Crikey… we’re 3!
This birthday marks a point where we at Fig + Sparrow can look back and really see our evolution… from our humble beginnings to what we have become. We have learned so much about our local community, the coffee scene, our products, our city, our space, our purpose and most importantly our customers.
We have worked hard to establish our brand and build a team of talented, creative and passionate people who work together to realise the details of our vision and bring new ideas to light.
To celebrate our 3rd birthday we thought what better time to launch our new branding and the long awaited online shop! We hope this is a mirror of what we have achieved in the Manchester store, and are looking forward to being accessible to the whole nation.
Along side this exciting launch, throughout June, we ran a section of events to celebrate with just a few of those who helped us get where we are today.
On the 9th June, we ran an intimate birthday card making workshop with the ever talented cardsmith and illustrator Mia Hague. Throughout a lovely and relaxed evening, Mia shared her ethos, methods and working practice with attendees who ranged from keen crafties all the way to professional artists.
After working through Mia's unique and stunning techniques, the group embarked on creating their very own masterpiece!

The following day, we decided to do something very special and invited a team from our resident roasters, Climpson and Sons to run a very special event, open to the public. Coffee After Hours // A cupping and brewing workshop was hosted by the lovely and talented Manuel and Matt, who both have a host of competitive appearances under their belt, with Matt recently being awarded 2016 Aeropress Champion. It was an honour to spend the evening tasting some of the best coffee around under the expert tutelage of the Climpsons guys. It was a fantastic experience for all attendees, from our own staff who are self proclaimed coffee nerds, to those who had never tried anything like it!
After a great tasting session, the brewing workshop went through home brewing with Aeropress, V60, and Chemex. There were some fantastic takeaways from this, including ideal water temperatures, grind size, and much more!
Straight after the event, F+S kept the doors open and we swapped coffee for beers! We wanted to celebrate turning 3 with everyone who helped us get there, our amazing customers, loyal and trusted suppliers, and fantastic Northern Quarter neighbours.
Although, due to a technical malfunction during the night and loosing the majority of our electricity supply (including the lights!), we continued to celebrate. There's nothing some tea lights and a portable speaker can't fix!
Fig + Sparrow turning 3 has been a truly wonderful occasion. We want to give a big thank you to every single person who's helped us get here, whether that be coming through the door or helping us behind the scenes. F+S wouldn't be what it is without the people who are part of it, so thank you!
